How to Check If Someone Is on Hinge
Updated
Hinge's help centre describes no way to look up a specific person by name, and members can pause their account or hide their Last Active status. Hinge is not among the dating sites CheaterExposer searches, so the useful public check is whether their photos and usernames appear elsewhere. Any result is a lead to verify, and uninstalling Hinge does not delete a profile.
Can you search for someone on Hinge?
Hinge’s help centre does not describe any way to look up a specific person by name. Members see profiles through features such as Discover, Standouts and Likes You, so browsing Hinge in the hope of spotting one person is not a reliable check.
- Not seeing someone on Hinge does not prove they aren’t on it.
- Do not make a fake profile or use someone else’s account to look.
How can someone limit who sees them on Hinge?
Any member can pause their account. Hinge says this stops them being shown to new people while they keep chatting with existing matches, and Likes they already sent can still lead to a match.
What does Last Active mean on Hinge?
Hinge can show Active Now or Active Today next to a profile photo, as an approximate guide. Members can hide it, and it does not appear if they have not been active in the past day. Matches do not see it. If it is missing, that does not tell you whether someone is using the app.
What can you check from outside the app?
Hinge is not among the dating sites CheaterExposer searches, so it will not tell you whether someone has a Hinge profile. It does search public results on Tinder, Plenty of Fish, Match, Badoo, MeetMe and Tagged, as well as public social profiles, which can show whether the same person appears elsewhere. Each result links to its public source.
- Reverse image search photos they have shared publicly.
- Compare several details together, not just a name.
- A profile elsewhere says nothing about Hinge, and it is not proof of cheating.
Could a Hinge profile be old?
Yes. Hinge says uninstalling the app won’t delete an account. If a friend spots a profile, it may have been left over from before your relationship. When an account is deleted, Hinge says other daters can no longer see the profile.
What if a Hinge profile is fake?
If someone is impersonating you, use Hinge’s Submit a Request form and choose Safety and Reporting, including the name, age, bio and photos shown on the profile. If someone you know is being impersonated, Hinge asks you to encourage them to report it directly.
